The wealth we play with.

image

Yes it was prophesied  years ago that knowledge will increase in the book of Daniel.
Now in our time we see this manifest with the power of the internet and social Media, information is everywhere .
My question is what have we done with this ” wealth”?
Every nation boast about something or a resource they are well endowed with by nature , but no one has seems to boast about information.
Every nation is becoming more informed now by the power of technology.
What are we making out of this wealth?
Are Africans seeing this wealth ?
Where are the youth ?
What are they doing about this.

Whiles we sit here to play with information such a great wealth to our continent , other countries use this information to build and  develop their families , community and nation.

Where are our young Africans ?
What have they been taught ?
What are they doing for their nation ?

Well I can try and tell you where we have been and what we have been doing?

Playing with the very information our fore fathers traded the gold and minerals for  .
This information well proccesed is what we call Education.
Where are the young men and women?
Where is the voice of the youth ?
Where are the young christains ?
Let’s arise to the light of this wealth and build our nation.
Let’s stop playing with this wealth and use it for exploits.
Let’s arise and built our nations with this great wealth.

Light and salt

image

Matthew 5:13-16 New International Version (NIV)
Salt and Light
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Light and salt
You created me for a purpose divine,
here on this earth, representing, yes, a branch of the vine.
A pointer to YOU, Father, as YOUR light, to shine.
All that i’ve achieved so far, i take no credit, none of the glory is mine.
To reach forth to the lost, the hurting, the quitting, the broken.
I, among your children, YOU have called, are equipping and have chosen,
so this task i do not take lightly,
cause i know each second i waste leisurely,
a soul towards hell is pushed slightly.
Pleasure, lust, luxury.. cooked and steaming,
dished out, presenting themselves temptingly,
expecting, from me, a ”yes please”, and ”oh, of course’,foolishly
but on YOU and YOUR work,i keep my eyes faithfully…never off course.
Sin is sugarcoated
and this world has a sweet tooth.
Now more than ever, you are needed
to help spread the truth.
In this darkness, people are stumbling and falling
for an answer, for light they are calling.
People are amassing wealth, money
and biting into and muching on tasteless chunks of life and living
for meaning, satisfaction, for salt they are searching.
Times ticking
tick, tock, tick, tock
each second people are dying.
Light of the world, salt of the earth
take your place in this race
and your duties, stop neglecting.
The harvest is plenty
but the labourers are few.
This world is broken, hurting and empty,
what it needs is me and you.

Took some time to listen to Donovan Livingston’s Harvard Graduation speech.
Apparently, majority of what he said aimed at one thing that many people in this world have been struggling with.
Many of us through education have been made to look like an addition or an inclusion in whatever sphere of life we find ourselves in.
” At the core none of us were meant to be common, we were born to be comets darting across space in time leaving our mark as we crash into everything.”
I found this part of the speech fascinating. Many of us have failed to made an impart so far in life, we are just a part of the billions of people who have walked and are still walking this earth”. Our lives should be lived in such a way that, we should be remembered for making a great influence or carving a positive change wherever we have walked.
If only we will have a ” Galileolike patience” and an urge to sacrifice the many pleasures of the world to make someone’s life better, we will eventually influence the world positively.
Likes of Martin Luther King Jnr and Mandela, are hard to come by due to the fact that many are being influenced by a quick way to financial prosperity and a selfish comfortability.
In conclusion, Donovan Livingston’s speech talked about ” Breaking free from laid down societal standards that imprint in our minds, a standard of mediocrity”
“Together we can inspire galaxies of greatness for generations to come, so the sky is not the limit, it is only the beginning.” Don’t be comfortable. Lift off.

The church and sports .

News feed !!!
The church and sports . part 1
Sports is a part of our world. Millions flood stadiums to watch football matches .
It’s great seeing people from all walks of life in one place to support a team their team.
Here in Africa football is the predominant one .
In other countries all kinds of sports are active and well patronised.
If our mandate is to the light of the world and the salt of the earth , christains who engage in sports are on the right path.
They must not be afraid to tell the world thier pasion for christ as they play for thier teams.
Over the years different perceptions have been raised about the kingdom of God and sports, especially in Africa.
Some claim sports is a “god” and that Christians should not involve themselves in it .
Others also think it makes people gods in the eyes of men . well this is very interesting .
Rosie is a freebise player in Britain and this is her personal experince .

Rosie Woodbridge shares her personal experience on sports as a sports person.
She calls this pray , play and say.
Rosie works predominantly on the student team, plays Ultimate Frisbee for SYC and Great Britain and is a part of Magdalen Road Church in Oxford

I love my sport.
I love the thrill of being on the pitch; running, jumping, diving, catching, throwing. If I could do it all day I would!
And I love Jesus.
My faith in Jesus is the biggest part of my life. I am so grateful to him for dying for me, for forgiving me, and enabling me to know him personally now and forever.
It took a long time to click for me that those two things could be, and are, totally related.
It took me a while to understand that my sport can be a way of actually worshipping God when I give it back to Him. And it took me a while to see that the world of sport is an amazing opportunity to share my faith with others.
Look at what Jesus said in Matthew 28 to his disciples after he had risen from the dead, and before he ascended to Heaven:
‘Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
The call is for all of us, as Jesus’ disciples, is to go and make disciples. And where are we told to go? To all nations. That means all people groups. And as I think about which people groups I naturally spend time with, it makes complete sense to go to sportspeople!
I absolutely love my team. We get on brilliantly together, we work hard for each other on the pitch and love hanging out off the pitch. We spend a lot of time together, in training and in tournaments, and socially as well. We go through a lot together – fitness sessions in the freezing rain, training week in week out, the heartbreaks and the joys of a season together! What a foundation and opportunity that is to share life and the Gospel with them!
